APP's Gasplasma process is clean, modular and scaleable: each plant is predicated to receive 150,000 tonnes of either municipal or commercial waste and extracts maximum recyclates from this before drying the residual waste to produce around 90,000 tonnes of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) for the process.
A full scale plant will produce:
• enough power for circa 15,000 homes (annual average of 5MWh energy usage per dwelling)
• enough heat for around 450 homes
• enhanced energy security
• over 97% landfill diversion of feedstock with minimal residues and emissions
• increased recycling rates
• high performance, high-value aggregate glass
• negative carbon footprint from a low environmental impact plant
A report by a leading environmental consultancy found that the Gasplasma process is the cleanest waste-to-energy technology available anywhere and no other waste-to-energy process can convert as much waste into power while at the same time producing a useful recyclate called Plasmarok®.
